Disney+ now supports SharePlay, allowing subscribers to enjoy movies and shows together while on a FaceTime call — no matter where they are. With this feature, you can sync your Disney+ viewing experience with friends and family, chat in real time, and even switch seamlessly between your Apple devices.
What Is SharePlay on Disney+?
SharePlay lets Disney+ subscribers stream content simultaneously during a FaceTime call on iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. Everyone in the session sees the same scene at the same time, with synchronized playback controls — so when one person pauses or skips ahead, it happens for everyone.
The feature also supports Picture‑in‑Picture mode, allowing you to multitask between your FaceTime chat and the Disney+ stream. You can even transfer playback from your iPhone or iPad to your Apple TV for a bigger screen experience.
Note: Each participant must have their own active Disney+ subscription to join a SharePlay session. Mac devices are not supported at this time.
Eligible Disney+ Plans
SharePlay is available to subscribers with one of the following plans:
- Disney+ Premium
- Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle Premium
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle Legacy
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited Bundle Premium
- Disney+, Hulu, Max Bundle (No Ads)
What You’ll Need
To start or join a SharePlay session, make sure you have:
- A supported iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV running the latest iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS.
- The latest Disney+ app version installed.
- An active subscription to one of the eligible Disney+ plans listed above.
What You Can Watch
During a SharePlay session, you can stream any content available in the Disney+ library for your country or region.
If your plan includes Hulu (either through a bundle or linked subscription), you can also watch Hulu content via SharePlay.
Note: Profiles set to Junior Mode cannot use SharePlay.
Cross‑Region Viewing
You can start or join a SharePlay session with people in other countries or regions. However, content availability may differ due to regional licensing or content rating restrictions. If a participant can’t access a title, they’ll be notified before joining.
